We’ve all heard about the filly that had to be euthanized on the track at the Kentucky Derby, right? THIS is why I don’t watch those horse races! I realize that doesn’t always happen, but it does occasionally and that’s enough for me. I am a huge animal lover. I can’t watch animal movies. I saw Baby when I was a kid (the one about the dinosaur) and I sobbed the entire time! Honestly, it scarred me. I saw Old Yeller, I read Where the Red Fern Grows, and I’ve watched enough Animal Planet and Discovery to realize this is not a fluke. It’s not just some books and movies and shows – IT’S ALL. If there’s an animal in it, I won’t see it. Animals almost always get hurt in movies. Not hurt in real life, but hurt in the movie. I won’t see I Am Legend b/c it has a golden retriever German shepherd. If there’s a movie that Adam wants to see, but it has an animal in it, he sees it by himself and then let’s me know if I can watch it.
I know that all these animals (for the most part) get up after the filming’s complete and they’re fine (w/ the exception of Animal Planet and Discovery), but it doesn’t matter. The scar is there for me. If you haven’t seen Baby, then you must and you’ll understand what I’m talking about. AWFUL!!!
So, that poor little filly. Just broke my heart.
Gene Smart says that I Am Legend had a German Shepherd not Golden Retriever. Just sayin….
