Harlan Coben

I love Harlan Coben.  He write in the mystery genre.  His books are full of twists and turns – so much fun!  I just read two of his back to back: The Woods and Hold Tight.  Woods is one of the best books I’ve read.  Honestly, that’ll be in my top 10 of all time.  I’ve gone through every phase when reading books.  I’ve done the classics, fantasy, romance, mystery, horror, biography, etc.  I think my favorite is mystery (if you don’t count Harry Potter).  Anyway, run out and buy The Woods.  It’ll keep your attention.  :-)

I’m done with TwiLight

So, I finished it.  And I hated it as much as I thought I would.  Out of the 500 pages, about 30 of them were good and that was near the end.  And then the end came and it reminded me of why I hate this book so much.  I’m sorry to all of you who love it.  I don’t understand you, but that’s alright.  We all have our obsessions, right?  I just thought the writing was incredibly elementary and the story was melodramatic and ridiculous.  And I think the movie looks like it will suck.  SORRY!!!

The next book I’m starting is an adult book by Harlan Coben called “The Woods.”  And scene.

TwiLight part 3

OK, so it actually got a little good last night, but only b/c some action came into the book and not this romance crap.  Another vampire family has moved into the area and is on the hunt for Bella…  I was actually sad when it was time for bed last night and I had to close the book.  I won’t be able to read it tonight, but I’ll pick it up again tomorrow.  I’m sure there’s a makeout scene coming soon b/t Bella and Edward and that’s when the eyes will roll and I’ll call my friend to make fun of him for loving it.

TwiLight part 2

OK, I must talk about the RIDICULOUS book TwiLight.  Seriously, it is absolutely retarded.  It is so incredibly cheesy and just… well, ridiculous…  I can’t believe I’m even reading it and I know I should stop, but I think that will upset me even more.  Please let it go somewhere!  Last night, Bella and Edward kissed for the first time.  WHATEVER!  It is written like a cheesy romance novel and it involves teenagers – I feel a little uncomfortable reading it, honestly.  Why are moms obsessed w/ this book?!?!  If you’re reading it or have read it, please comment.  The book is driving me crazy and not in the good way.

TwiLight

Melinda told me about this book TwiLight.  Apparently I had heard about it before from O’Dell.  We were at Barnes N Noble for the big Harry Potter party and he picked it up.  I wouldn’t let him buy it because “it’s a kid’s book.”  Yes, we were there to get Harry Potter…

Anyway, Melinda let me borrow.  There are going to be 4 books total in the series about Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.  Now, I don’t know how this happens.  When I read the book, I can’t put it down.  When I walk away from it and start thinking about it, I can’t believe I’m that into it!  It’s absolutely ridiculous – Stephanie Meyers doesn’t even follow the vampire rules!  Well, I haven’t gotten to that part, but that’s what Mel tells me.  It is absolutely ridiculous and all these 40-year-old women are obsessed with this high school romance.  And yes, I’m well on my way.  What is the deal?!  Is anyone else reading this?

It sort of reminds me of a high school version of Moonlight.  If you’ve watched that show, then you know how terrible the acting is.  Yet, every Friday night, Adam and I are in front of the boob tube watching it.  The acting is on the same level as porn acting.  TERRIBLE!  I guess it’s a vampire fetish of some sort.  I’ve always had a fascination.  Ever since I dreamed about prom when I was about 9 years old.  Here’s the dream:

I was wearing one of my doll’s dresses – beautiful and black and sequined.  My date was GORGEOUS.  We were with friends at a fancy restaurant.  He looked at me, kissed my wrist and opened to bite.  Then there was chaos and I woke up.  I actually wore a similar dress to prom my junior year thanks to Sellers.  :-)

Anyway, maybe that’s where it started, but I love anything Dracula and vampires.  Throw in some werewolves and I go crazy.  I hear werewolves are in the next book…
